“I think it’s sad because here I am at the peak of my life and loving it and someone has to hide who they are because they feel like they might not be accepted,” he says.

“You know how you look at TV shows and there’s always that token black character? That’s how I feel being in a town like this — I’m the token black gay character.

“But I take that to my advantage and I don’t let it become a negative.”
